Michelle shows cash-strapped America her $2,400 dress at SOTU
While millions of Americans remain unemployed, underwater in their mortgages, foreclosed-upon, and while Obama emphasizes greater wealth-redistribution, Michelle Obama donned a flashy $2,400 dress for all of America to see during the President’s State of the Union Address. TheCelebrityCafe.com reports,
Last night, viewers tuned in to watch President Obama deliver his State of the Union address but not all eyes were on him. In a room full of suits, Michelle Obama stole America’s attention with her bold cobalt blue Barbara Tfank dress.
Michelle looked exquisite and oh so elegant in the designer’s sheath. Us Weeklyreported that the stylish frock, from Tfank’s resort collection, is likely to have a steep retail price of $2,400.
Best known for dabbling in a variety of designer’s collections, Obama is no stranger to Tfank. According to People, when visiting Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge last year, Michelle dressed to impress in a brocade dress and pink jacket made by the Los Angeles-based designer.
USWeekly reported Mrs. Obama’s sentiments on fashion:
“For me fashion is fun, and it’s supposed to help you feel good about yourself,” the first lady told Women’s Health back in 2009. “I think that’s what all women should focus on: what makes them happy and feel comfortable and beautiful. I wear what I love. Sometimes people like it, sometimes they don’t. I’m fine with that.”
The only thing more colorful than Mrs. Obama’s expensive dress was Rush Limbaugh’s description of the setting:
When I saw her, when they introduced her walking down the aisle to her seat, I said, “Where is she? Does she think she’s in Davos? Is this a cocktail party?” We found out is a $2400 cocktail dress. That’s what it cost, anyway, if you go buy it at Barney’s in New York City. So she shows up at the Class Warfare Rally last night in the House chamber wearing a $2400 cocktail dress!

Oh I am sure the alterations cost a lot more than $2400.00! This is a perfect example of the "nouveau riche" elite we have in the White House. Can you imaging Laura Bush wearing such extravagance at her husbands SOTU speech? or even any of our candidates wives? The Obama's have their "fair share" of entitlements they think they deserve but it is obvious that they are not comfortable with their money. If they were, they would be accustomed to spending it wisely.
If she had, we'd still be hearing about it! Isn't it funny that when the Democrats so something wrong, we rarely hear about it?

I guess this isn't popular to say here, but Michelle is a beautiful woman. And no, I don't take drugs. I'm just stating a fact. I'm no fan of the Obamas in any way whatsoever. In fact, I think it was classless for her to dress like that for that speech, and especially at this time. In addition, I almost can't stand to listen to him and did not watch the SOTU. I watched TBN because my favorite speaker was on there. It was a good decision.

"We need more money!' – How about having a yard sale at the White house and selling all of Mrs. Obamas shoes and dresses – just to start. That will probably cover pretty good chunk of the debt.
Give it a rest!! If it is her personal money being spent, she is only helping the economy by spending it – to create work for those employed where she spent the money. If it was taxpayer money OR she acquired it through scams, then that is a different situation. It is a beautiful dress in a gorgeous color for a celebratory occasion. The fact that we dislike their politics should not make us condemn every little thing each and every day. Give us the real news -like not firing employees who have not paid their taxes – not this contrived junk.
It shouldn't be all that difficult to comprehend the cost of that dress because it likely took a team of seamstresses and lots of material to cover her huge b%##.

Well, first we don't know if Ms. Obama paid retail and what is retail anyway? Retail, or MSRP, is an inflated price to makes us feel good because we think we got a deal because we didn't pay "retail." Second, we all know the mainstream media exaggerates. US Weekly could have inflated the price because it believes its readers would be happy to know Ms. Obama was wearing an expensive designer dress. Third, do any of you think Speaker Boehner was wearing a suit or tie from WalMart? It gets us nowhere to complain about the price of the First Lady's dress.

I tore my J Crew card up when I found out Michelle (aka Mr. Ed, the talking horse) bought her clothes there but after she got on the throne, she must have thrown J Crew under the bus. She 's a queen alright, a drag queen.

The POINT is that the Obamas whine constantly about the rich (Republicans) spend (waste) taxpayer's money like spoiled irresponsible teenagers, while Obama's failed policies have put millions out of work, so not only can others not afford a lavish dress they can hardly put food on the table. Flaunting this expensive frock is just another way of rubbing our nose in it. The dress was inappropriate for the occasion. We don't really know if the taxpayers were stuck with this bill. They stick us with everything else. Too bad they don't practice what they preach. Their motto is "do as I say, not as I do". They are both a total disgrace to the White House and our Country,.
I don't know what Barack or Michelle Obama do for a living, but they sure live the high life on our money. All I have ever seen them REALLY do since he took office is spend A LOT of money, wear expensive, flashy clothes, throw expensive parties in the White House, take WAY TOO MANY expensive vacations, buy an extremely expensive armored car for protection (he sure needs it), focus on trying to get re-elected, and RUB ALL OF THIS in our faces. When are we going to get fed up with him and ALL of these political idiots? The American taxpayers are HIS bosses, aren't we? Every employer in this country has rules and regulations for vacation time and how much of it an employee can take. Where is the Presidential Employee Handbook??? Every thing the Obamas do is offensive to those of us Americans who are struggling in a major way to make ends meet. There are illegal immigrants that come into this country and get huge amounts of benefits, which makes them have a better lifestyle than us struggling Americans who are paying for their benefits. And then we get the Obamas slapping us in the face with their constant partying and vacationing at our expense. The simple truth…Americans are being robbed by their own government.
Maybe if you stop complaining and start looking to the Bible for answers..your anger may subside and you might find your true purpose in life. You never complained when George Bush was president did you??..You never asked for the handbook then..why now?? What is so offensive about the Obamas , when the Bushes had the same privileges for 8 including Bush senior who had 4. Take your religion out of politics, as there is separation of state and religion, right along with free speech and the right to bear arms! I agree that the Obamas are flaunting their status in the face of the America public when this nation is in a financial crisis. I don't know about you, but the "American Dream" is just a fantasy for my daughter and may always be so if this country isn't turned around 180 degrees soon. I also agree that there are too, too many illegal aliens in this country, who are sucking the life out of hard-working, tax-paying American CITIZENS.
