Zombie voters: 1 in 8 registrations faulty, report says

by Joel McDurmon on Feb 15, 2012

A Pew Center reports claims that at least 12.5% of voter registrations in the U.S. are faulty to some degree.

At least that many contain address errors due to a highly mobile population, but greater errors exist as well. 1.8 million dead people are still actively registered, and 2.75 million people have active registration in multiple states.

The Reuters report says that an outdated paper-based system is at least partially to blame, suggesting the need for electronic technology.

According to the report, the errors and inefficiencies “could lead to ‘the perception that they (elections) lack integrity or could be susceptible to fraud.’”

“Could”?

But is electronic technology an assurance against this? It sure hasn’t done much to ensure the “perception” of integrity with electronic voting machines.

  1. I don't think technology will be an assurance against voter fraud. I just think that technology should take over because it would be more efficient. There will always be people messing with the system whether it's paper or electronic. I mean you have Maine and Iowa. And, then, you have Florida in 2000. Where there was electronics involved, but politics interefered and made a big mess. So, it's not so much technology; it's people.

  2. For starters, eliminate mass voting by mail as in Oregon at least in Presidential elections. That is a disaster waiting to happen. Photo ID at the polls is a must. I would like to see photo ID of some sort even for absentee ballots if possible. There should be a clearinghouse between states to make sure that the same person cannot remain registered in 2 places. The problem would be to prevent the misuse of this information for other purposes

    • AGREE! AGREE! AGREE! How can that be so hard. And why would ANY legal voter or representative who is supposed to set the example be opposed to any such tactic.

    • Dead people still have photo ID's after they are dead. If an ID can be made it can be faked. All electronic means can be easily faked too.

An easier method would be permanent ink or something that cannot come off the skin in a couple days. Sometimes low tech is better than high tech. The idea is to ensure one person one vote. Yet this does not solve the problem of illegals voting.

  4. Dead people have been voting for demoncrats for decades and yet the authorities are hamstrung by the DOJ who claims it is racist to insist on a photo id!

What criminals we have running government.

We need a do over to clean house on these felons.

  5. It is immaterial who wins the Republican nomination if we can’t fix ballot corruption.
The key to Democrat victory in 2012 is ballot corruption on a grand scale. ACORN, AARP,SEIU, Union money and union goons, the Race card, homosexual activists and a proliferation of criminal political activist organizations. The collusion of these government funded organization only scratches the surface of the monumental criminal activity that will accompany the election in 2012.
Under present leadership, our Department of Justice has and will overlook criminal activity whose prosecution might be damaging to the present administration. Election fraud on the part of Democrats won’t be identified as such or prosecuted when discovered. We pride ourselves on being a Nation of laws. When the Department of Justice collaborates with criminals, results are capricious. When courts are capricious, or selective in prosecution, there is no law. The one institution that keeps our system of government viable is a free and fair ballot. Violate the ballot and we no longer have a Constitutional Republic.
To save our system of government we must demand that our election laws are obeyed and violators be arrested and prosecuted. To do this it is imperative that our law enforcement agencies are not hobbled by the present administration and that our courts are not stifled by the Department of Justice.
Please take this seriously! Please do what you can to stop this impending catastrophe. Find out who is counting your vote. Contact your congressmen, state and local officials, your election boards and anyone you feel can help.

  6. If the States required new registration of voters every time there is an election then it may ease some of the screw ups. Also, they should ban same day voter registration. Seriously, people, you'd have to live under a rock to not know when an election is taking place.

In my State you must show ID at the polls to vote. However, proof of ID is only part of the equation.

  7. Sometimes low tech is better than high tech…

One needs an ID to vote, an ID to register. Then after voting, permanent ink is used to signify that you have voted.

  8. Solutions are fairly simple, but who is going to inforce them? As soon as the tallies come into state headquarters, the trouble starts. Whose going to watch them? Seems corruption goes from the bottom to the top. We have taken things for granted for too long. I hope if Obama wins, the Republicians want a recount like the Democrats did in Florida. Probably wont help, but at least its better than doing nothing at all.
