National debt

There’s only One option to reduce the debt, report shows

by Joel McDurmon on Feb 24, 2012

According to a study released by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget—a bi-partisan organization “committed to educating the public about issues that have significant fiscal policy impact”—America has only one presidential option if it truly wants to lower its  national debt.

The Wall Street Journal reports,

While Republican presidential candidates are campaigning against President Barack Obama’s deficit-laden budgets, a new report concludes that three of the four contenders’ fiscal proposals would likely increase the federal debt.

Only Texas Rep. Ron Paul has offered detailed plans that might trim the government’s burgeoning debt, according to an analysis released Thursday by the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

CNN reports,

Newt Gingrich’s economic plan would do a lot of things. But reducing the debt and balancing the federal budget aren’t among them.

Same goes for Rick Santorum’s and Mitt Romney’s economic plans.

Indeed, a preliminary analysis by the independent Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget released Thursday estimates that the three candidates’ plans could add between $250 billion and $7 trillion of debt over the next nine years.

By contrast, the proposals of Ron Paul could reduce the debt by $2.2 trillion, the group estimated.

CNN is so scared that it may have actually leaked the truth that it included a video at the bottom of its article attacking Paul’s plan as “radical”: just look at the huge cuts! wow! and thousands of government employees laid off! OMG, imagine that!

But the report makes it clear: there’s only one option.

That’s right, the budget hawks’ own budget hawks show that Paul’s Plan to Restore America is the only political platform available that will reduce the national debt. Paul. Only Paul.

But you wouldn’t know that from reading the press coverage of this report.

Not one major outlet covering the story—and most of them covered it—focuses on the standout Ron Paul; all focus on the increased debts of the other three as if saying “look the Republicans are no better than Obama.” Check out some of the headlines:

“Report says Candidates’ plans boost federal debt” – Wall Street Journal

“Report: Debt will swell under top GOP hopefuls’ tax plans” – Washington Post

“Debt Boosted Under Leading Republicans’ Plans” – Businessweek

Notice how they’re qualified so as to ignore Paul legitimately. We’re only talking about “top” GOP hopefuls, and “Leading” Republicans. Right.

Heck, even the study’s own “wonk” ignored the results of her own study. She said at the release, “I don’t expect Republicans to raise taxes. But one definition of responsibility is to see if you can reform the tax system in a way that doesn’t make things worse. And on that score, all these candidates fail.”

But how does a plan that slashes the debt by over two trillion dollars “make things worse”? How can such a plan be called a failure—especially when it’s the only plan available at all that will reduce the debt? And the fact that Paul can do it without raising taxes should be something to trumpet across every headline in the world—not to ignore and lump with the rest of the failures.

America, if you’re really serious about reducing our threatening national debt, if you’re really serious about fiscal conservatism and not saddling your own children with debts that will lead to social chaos, radical inflation, poverty, and/or war in their lifetime, then wake up now: you’ve only got one option.

You’ve only got one option, and you’ve only got one chance to take it.

If you don’t think America can wind up on fire like Greece, just compare the numbers:

  1. "If you don’t think America can wind up on fire like Greece, just compare the numbers." Why not. God kicked out Adam and Eve from the truly best place on Earth.

I'm not sure if America is really serious. They'll ignore the soldiers. The ones that are fighting and dying because it's patriotic to support them fighting, but it's ok ignore them when they voice their opinion. Most of them are voicing the opinions of Ron Paul. If you ignore them, then, you are no better than a liberal who slanders them.

But, I guess you older folks paid into it and you should get your money's worth…and, then some.

  2. The debt is very important, but so are matters impacting upon our support for the only democracy in the middle east, our ally Israel and Paul would turn his back on that nation, which is contrary to Christian directives according to the Bible. Our best hope to both beat Obama and help America back into a rightward direction across the board is through nominating and then electing the current front-runner who is endorsed by Limbaugh, Dobson and at least 90 other conservative leaders from across America who put their support behind him at CPAC. Rick Santorum for President this November, to the rescuing of the American way of life!

    • @Victoria, People such as yourself WILL NEVER LEARN except for HARD EXPERIENCE from flawed judgement due to the lack of knowledge of your own country's founders and their words! ~ READ George Washington's Farewell Speech and you will clearly see that Dr. Ron Paul is following the WARNING our first President gave concerning relations with foreign governments! ~ Hosea 4:6 "My people perish for their lack of knowledge"! (Thanks to "Progressive" CULTURAL MARXISM!)

      • Excellent, I totally agree
Who in the media would believe anything that was written in the Bible. Sad isn't it! Our Founding Fathers had a relationship with God who blessed them. Today Obama says he is a Christian, he would not even be able to name the books of the Bible.
Another apology to Islam made this week. Did we get an apology for the killing of Christians this past Sunday in Jerusalem. ha ha ha ha ha, what a silly statement. Ron Paul is the only way to go!!!!!!

      • Anticrime: We are way beyond reading Washington's farewell speech! Ron Paul's foreign policy is nuts! launched missiles are not going to stop at our borders! Especially since we have already been infiltrated in the U.S. because of NO closed borders! What do you think the muslims are doing right here in the states? They are just waiting for their orders to strike! WAKE UP! The communist and Muslims have already infiltrated our government, defense dept, etc., but Paul does not think Iran is a serious threat! Get Real! If we don't take this threat serious, we won't have to worry about our economy. There is none in a dictatorship!

    • I don't see how Limbaugh would've endorsed Santorum as he's pretty much anti second amendment and he's certainly conservative lite. He's too much of a weakie for me. Gingrich is a standout statesman and should have no problem in a debate kicking Oboy off his teleprompter. Paul may sound old and wacky but he's a staunch constitutionalist who'd have no trouble giving the Fed,EPA, etc. their walking papers. Dumping useless agencies with overblown bureaucracies would go a long way in balancing the budget. Makes sense to me. We don't need Obamacare, goodbye Kathleen Sebilius. We don't need the EPA,good riddance Lisa Jackson. Goodbye Bernanke and the Fed and good riddance to federal fiat funny money worth $1 worth of nothing. Goodbye IRS and hello Fair Tax. I like Gingrich but Paul sounds awfully good,I just don't feel confident enough that he could depose Oboy and that's what it's all about. Get rid of Oboy. I'd vote for Charlie Sheen if he had a solid chance of beating Oboy.

    • Victoria:
      MYTH: Ron Paul is anti-Israel.

FACT: Ron Paul strongly supports Israel.

Ron Paul strongly supports Israel's right to self-determination.
Ron Paul voted to oppose a Congressional resolution condemning Israel for bombing Iraq's nuclear reactors.
As President, Ron Paul would seek to remove billions in aid from Israel's enemies.
Paul recently re-affirmed his support for Israel, explaining his belief that America should be Israel's 'friend' but not it's 'master.' He goes on to explain that America should "refuse any arms sales that would undermine Israel's qualitative military edge in the region."

      DETAILS:
Pro-Israel views: Ron Paul strongly supports "honest friendship" and "free trade" with Israel.1, 2

Israel's Sovereignty: Ron Paul recognizes Israel's right to make its own decisions in regards to national security and says that the US should not dictate what Israel can and cannot do: "Israel should be in charge of their sovereignty and we should never intrude on what they do, and if they want to attack Iran we shouldn't tell them what to do or what not to do. . . . I think Israel has to do what is in their best interest, and they shouldn't have to come ask us for permission. If they have border problems or if they have trouble with Iran — they didn't ask us for permission to bomb the nuclear site in Iraq in the early 1980's, and I think that was fine."4, 5 He also says: "Israel is our close friend. While President Obama's demand that Israel make hard concessions in her border conflicts may very well be in her long-term interest, only Israel can make that determination on her own, without pressure from the United States or coercion by the United Nations."3

Congressional Resolution: Ron Paul was one of the only Congressmen who voted against condemning Israel for bombing Iraq's nuclear reactors in 1981. "[A]lmost the entire US Congress voted to condemn the act, but Congressman Paul was one of the few Republicans who stood up and said Israel should not have to answer to America for how she defends herself. Remember, this was the Republican Party of Ronald Reagan that had condemned Israel, a coalition that included the most hawkish anti-Communists and the most fervent Christian conservatives."6

Cutting Foreign Aid to Countries Hostile to Israel: Ron Paul advocates eliminating all foreign aid because "the principle is wrong, and because it doesn't achieve anything."7 This position would help Israel because Israel would still have ample funds for defense while its enemies would be disproportionately affected. As Ron Paul said, "If we stopped all the foreign aid you say 'oh, you're going to hurt Israel,' but you know, the Arab and the Muslim nations [collectively] get twice as much money." 4, 5 Paul says he favors "discontinuing foreign aid to governments that are actual or potential enemies of Israel, which taken together receive much more American aid than Israel does. Giving aid to both sides has understandably made many Israelis and American Jews conclude that the American government is hypocritically hedging its bets."2

Newsmax Interview: In a recent Newsmax interview, Paul re-affirmed his support for Israel as a close friend of the United States.8 Paul states, "We should be their friend and their trading partner. They are a democracy and we share many values with them. But we should not be their master. We should not dictate where their borders will be nor should we have veto power over their foreign policy."8 In regards to what we should do for Israel as our ally, Paul states: "We should share intelligence for mutually agreed-upon goals. We should honor our pledge to refuse any arms sales that would undermine Israel's qualitative military edge in the region."8

      • RON PAUL'S NEWS LETTER WITH LINK AND QUOTES – INTERESTING – BAD NEWS FOR RON PAUL
Who would have thunk Ron Paul would go to all this trouble to help the Progressive left http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/12/27/3953… (and warm a NAZI skinhead's heart at the same time), while assuring Obama a second term? If you've made it passed the not-politically-correct-speech this far, please read on to see just how easily Ron Paul is disqualified from ever being able to beat Barack Obama due an apparently not profitable Dr. Paul's need to sell an investment and political newsletter for an annual fee to supplement his income.

Please note the article cited in their piece, http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/12/27/3953… which, I'll make more brief to aid those who just want to get to the meat of the net effect and likely truth regarding Ron Paul:

      • Ron Paul – From His Newsletter Regarding Gays

January 1990 – This, to me, is an illustration of needless commentary, saying exactly what the article says. The story about Dan Rather that followed was likely set aside due to the rantings in “AIDSomania” before it, http://www.tnr.com/sites/default/files/January199….

Jan 1994 – Ron Paul claims he is citing a New York Times article, though without any reference to date nor the author's name, etc., http://www.tnr.com/sites/default/files/SR_Jan94_p….

      • September 1994 – Ron Paul Survival Report where he sets forth the circumstances to avoid getting AIDS, claiming it only exists in heterosexuals via a “malicious gay,” relying on a false sense of security in being a heterosexual, which many people erroneously assumed was the way to be “immune” from getting AIDS, http://www.tnr.com/sites/default/files/September1…. You will note that Mr. Paul mentions the AIDS conference in Japan, couching the cited paragraph as though it was a conclusion and result of the AIDS conference, of which Mr. Paul fails to give any proof of the admission he claims was made by AIDS scientists at the conference, that they lied about heterosexual cases for financial reasons. Though this could be true, I would need some proof.

      • Conclusion – General Reasons These Disqualify Ron Paul and Impeach his Credibility Entirely:

        1) Ron Paul would have to be a complete incompetent to allow these newletters to be written in his name over almost a 5 year period of time (if he didn't write them himself to play on people's fears etc., never thinking he'd ever run for President, which I believe may be the case in this matter).

        2) The focus and persistent attention to race is an attribute we already have in the White House, and I do not wish to experience it from an opposing or other racial perspective, nor do we need this to be played upon in 2012 to gin up the Progressive democrat, ignore the Dixiecrat history, base.

        −stillmoral
      • 3) When you look at the January 1990 article regarding gays, do you see a libertarian who believes government shouldn't be involved, or an anti-gay person who is making every effort to be involved through his commentary, to use his newsletter as a “bully pulpit?” I am not gay, nor do I advocate or think such behavior is right, however, I do not believe that holding to AIDS as being only in the gay community, as well as assuming sodomy is merely an act of male homosexuality, is responsible, particularly as a means to share a “libertarian” statement made by someone else, and, is definitely a sign of the kind of person we do not need in the White House.

        −stillmoral
      • 4) A Tea Partier cannot vote for Ron Paul for this simple reason: it wasn't that long ago that the Tea Party was called racist. The Tea Party, the Constitutional Conservative movement of Founders' Style Patriotic Americans standing up for Individual Liberty, would be crushed. If the Tea Party does not wish to be branded racist as an earned neutralization of their entire political clout that showed itself in 2010, does not wish to have all notions of Sovereignty and Constitutional Conservatism buried under a relentless propaganda campaign of how these relate to the bigotry demonstrated by Ron Paul and by our voting for this man, or bigotry expressed by these newletters of almost 5 years duration, including a portion of the time when he was a Congressman, then we cannot vote for Ron Paul.

        −stillmoral
      • Then again, maybe Americans no longer care about the Constitution, Our Founders, Individual Liberty, nor the reality that all men and women are created equal, that by each Individual's use of their unalienable Rights we rise in our respective sphere of talent and capability, some lucrative, some merely a desire to serve irrespective of recompense, some dishonorable/corrupted (as exist in all systems), and will be more likely a larger segment of society in genuine Freedom. Yes, we might actually have to go to the trouble of monitoring our government, assuming it will not take care of itself, and that we must be engaged; engaged to enforce a term limit with our vote; engaged to file any legal action necessary to mandate or prohibit government from acting inconsistent to how we chartered them by Our Written Constitution, enumerating specific, and not general, powers of a compound republic to serve the Citizens of this nation.

        −stillmoral
      • Our Citizenship is vast today, embracing many more than it did when the nation was founded of many different walks of life by culture, color, religious belief and even by lack thereof. Individual Liberty is expressed in these differences, it is these differences that testify to the value of our God-Given Freedom, and that is the whole point, isn't it?
We already have a divisive Socialist in the White House, one who uses the differences to divide the People at every opportunity he can — to divide the Sovereign, a people whose lives are each enjoyed as they see fit, not as government has corralled them to believe.

If we wish another 4 years of Barack Hussein Obama and a completely divided America, please, vote for Ron Paul to be the GOP nominee.

FACT: Ron Paul opposes racism and favors policies that will benefit minorities.

Ron Paul has never said or written anything remotely racist in almost 40 years of public life.
Ron Paul opposes the drug war and the death penalty, which disproportionately affect minorities
The smear regarding decades-old newsletters has been investigated and dismissed; The New York Sun says Ron Paul "has never voiced views that we would call racist or anti-Semitic."
President of the Austin NAACP, Nelson Linder, who has known Paul for 20 years "unequivocally dismissed charges that the Congressman was a racist in light of recent smear attempts."
According to Business Insider, some speculate that political commentator Lew Rockwell may have been responsible for the newsletters without Paul's knowledge, but this is without proof.
Paul has stated he has no knowledge of who wrote the newsletters, although some

        DETAILS:
Racism "Odious": Research shows that Paul has never stated or written anything racist in almost 40 years of public service, including his books.7,8,9 In his book, The Revolution, Ron Paul explains that racism "is a particularly odious form of collectivism."1 He further explains that "the only way that racism can be overcome is through the philosophy of individualism, which I have promoted throughout my life."1 Paul also goes on to say: "We should not think in terms of whites, blacks, Hispanics, and other such groups. That kind of thinking only divides us. The only us-versus-them thinking in which we might indulge is the people – all the people – versus the government."2

Opposition to Drug War and Death Penalty: "Paul's position on the drug war alone-which he has acknowledged disproportionately affects minorities-would do more for blacks in America than any proposal any of the other [2008] candidates currently has on the table. Paul has also recently rescinded his support for the federal death penalty, also due to its disproportionate impact on blacks."3

Smear Campaign Refuted: The New York Sun has addressed the newsletters in an editorial as follows: "[I]n the dozen or so conversations we've had with Dr. Paul over nearly 30 years, he has never voiced views that we would call racist or anti-Semitic. On the contrary, we have heard a tone altogether different."4 Ron Paul has said regarding the newsletters: "The quotations [from the newsletters] are not mine and do not represent what I believe or have ever believed. I have never uttered such words and denounce such small-minded thoughts. In fact, I have always agreed with Martin Luther King, Jr. that we should only be concerned with the content of a person's character, not the color of their skin . . . When I was out of Congress and practicing medicine full-time, a newsletter was published under my name that I did not edit. Several writers contributed to the product. For over a decade, I have publically taken moral responsibility for not paying closer attention to what went out under my name."5 Many reputable journalists subsequently investigated the issue. In addition to the New York Sun editorial cited above, see also Justin Raimondo, "Why the Beltway Libertarians Are Trying to Smear Ron Paul," Takimag.com, January 18th, 2008 and Julian Sanchez & David Weigel, "Who wrote Ron Paul's newsletters?"

Lew Rockwell: According to Business Insider, some speculate that political commentator Lew Rockwell may have been responsible for the content in Paul's newsletters.10 More research needs to be conducted before accusations are made, however.

Austin NAACP President Dismisses charges: President of the Austin NAACP Nelson Linder, who has known Paul for twenty years, publically stated he "unequivocally dismissed charges that the Congressman was a racist in light of recent smear attempts."6 He went on to state, "Dr. Paul has . . . praised Martin Luther King as his hero on many occasions spanning back 20 years."6

They know that Obama would beat him like a drum. Santorum might make a good VEEP for Newt, but President? I don't think so! While others "TALK THE TALK!! NEWT HAS WALKED THE WALK!!!" TRY AS THEY MIGHT, THEY CAN'T CHANGE HISTORY!! If he goes in there, and gets the budget balanced (the only one who has) lowers taxes on Business and Capital gains, jobs will come by the millions, like they did under Reagan, revenues to the treasury will double ( like they nearly did under Reagan) Ron Paul might make a good Treasury Secretary, but CIC? He is too much of a loose cannon in foreign affairs. Mitt Romney thinks he can buy the election, but even with all the 10s of millions he has spent, a light weight like Santorum has beaten him in some States, but Super Tuesday is getting near, and that is when Newt should shine! But sorry, I know Ron Paul's supporters are almost "Rabid" in their loyalty, but there are not enough of you!

    • IF you people who claim to know the Bible would actually study your Bibles instead of reading Hal Lindsey novels and watching his movies, you might realize that there are NO directives in the Bible commanding Christians to defend modern-day Israel. Furthermore, Paul does not wish to turn his back on Israel. And IF you would actually study the candidates, you would realize that Santorum is NOT a conservative, but like Romney and Gingrich is an establishment politician who endorses, promotes, and votes for big spending and big government.

Misguided, unlearned, and lazy Christians who spend more time watching movies and reading books instead of learning the TRUTHS of the Bible are going to destroy this nation by ignoring the best candidate simply because they are biblically illiterate about Israel and ignorant about Paul's true position! This includes Limbaugh, Dobson, Franklin Graham and all of your other 90+ " conservatives." THEY and NOT Ron Paul are the biggest threat to this nation! Furthermore, Victoria, if you spent less time listening to things said ABOUT Ron Paul and actually gave him the courtesy of listening to HIM before judging him, you might come to the proper conclusion that he is NOT anti-Israel.

      −Judy Peterson
    • First of all Dr. Paul has NEVER said he would turn his back on Israel.
Second, the Bible does not instruct Christians to give military aid to Israel.
Third, Benjamin Netenyahu spoke before Congress and told them that Israel did not need, nor want American military aid.
Fourth, who gives a rat's a** about Limbaugh's endorsement? Does it mean anything? He is nothing more than an overpaid cheerleader for the Big-Government Neo-Cons that cannnot seem to get out of their own way.
Lastly, since when has a flip-flopping Big-Government Conservative like Santorum ever rescued anything other than their own political careers?

Stop bashing Dr. Paul with your "False Witness" type of statements and read what he has written and look at his voting record in Congress. Compare that with Santorum's voting record in the Senate. I am very certain that if you do, you will become a Dr. Paul supporter.

      −Minarchist
    • To Victoria,

In Genesis 12:3, the Bible's talking about God's people; that would be the Church. As it states in Exodus 19:6a, "…and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." In reference to what Peter said in I Peter 2 when he spoke to dispersions of Christians. Verse 9, "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excelencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." Verse 10, "Once you were not my people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

Paul wrote in Ephesians chpt. 2 that we were just Gentiles – the "uncircumcised". Separated from Christ and any hope. Males of Israel in the Old Testament had to be circumcised. God told Abraham to do this in order to know who is who. To separate from the outsiders. Paul continues because of Jesus' blood we are one in him. That is, because Paul was talking to Gentiles that had to deal with Jews, the Jew and the Gentile are now one in Christ. As verse 15 says, "by abolishing the law of commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace.." Christ Jesus broke down all the ordinances and the laws that the Pharisees held up allowing even the outsiders to come into the fold. The circumcision practice is over. Paul showed the difference between the physical world and the Spiritual world. Just as it was better for Jesus physical body to leave the Earth so that the Holy Spirit can come down here to us. Same with the effect that Jesus' blood had on His Nation. The blood of Christ allowed His people to not just stay in one spot, but to be spread throughout the world.

Romans 2:28-29 shows upfront about how we should view Israel and people in general when it comes to Christ and being saved and who the real Jews are. (Yeah, I know; it's pretty wild stuff.) "For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God." Paul, himself, called the Church Israel in Galatians 6:11-18 (vs 16). We see that old Israel customs are worthless in verse 15, "For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation."

Therefore, why are we to protect the present day Israel more so than any other ally? Why would we see Genesis 12:3 as speaking of the physical nation of Israel, especially, the modern day Israel? The Israel of today is not what the Bible was talking about. The people that God was talking about when He was talking to Abram was His people, the Church, the Bride, the Holy Nation, the Saints. They may not have been known as the "Church" at the time, but the reference to God's people or great nation was still the same. People may say that the Church was not in the Old Testament. But, what was the book of Ecclesiastes about?

To interpret Genesis 12:3 as in to protect modern day Israel is dangerous for many reasons. One being that this sort of interpretation puts two things that God requires of us. We are to only worship Jesus for only He made us into one body. There is no other requirement that states that we are to protect Israel – that is, another thing to do.

As Paul wrote many times, to not believe in Christ is to be not saved. So, why are Christians upholding modern day Israel as an equal or some sort of passage way to pleasing God? As James wrote and as Jesus spoke of the Beatitudes, we only do things because it becomes of us to obey Christ when we are saved. And, Jesus never said to bless an unbeliever so as to die for him. However, we are to bless the world by going into the world ministering to them. As Jesus spoke some of his final words on Earth, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." – Matthew 28:20. We are to die for Christ and nobody else; we boast in the Cross and nothing else.

Jesus died for whoever believed can be saved. When they hung Him on that cross and yelled and mocked "King of the Jews", "King of Israel", if they only knew how true that statement was.

It's a religious thing with you and your ilk. Sadly, you are mistaken about what the Bible really teaches about Israel. Try reading what Paul says. He says there is neither jew nor gentile (if you want to get Biblical). This entire idea that Christian zionists have woven together is relatively new from a religious standpoint and in error, and those who buy into it are no better than religious muslim extremists….. just a different flavor. That's all. Try to educate yourself on real history of the middle east and forget the errors being taught by some preachers. Presbyterians know the truth, and Methodists do and several other mainstream denominations. Wonder why they don't get much press about it? Well, WHO owns the press? If you have your way, we will send more of our boys to fight Israel's wars. We can best help Israel, by leaving them alone and making sure that peace is up to them and not our money, bombs, and blood. The USA has already bled enough for Israel and the religious fanatics who support the regime.

      • I resent the term you Paul idiots use "neocons" Take Ron Paul and his antiAmerican stance and stick the old fraud up your butt. And like all paulbots, your antiSemitism is showing.

        −stillmoral
    • We give more than double the $$ to Isreal's enemies! It seem the Christian thing to do is "as much as it depends on us is to be at peace with everyone"–not try to pick fights. and interfere in other country's business. The Israeli PM said they can handle Iran themselves. The former CIA chief and bin Laden hunter, Michael Scheuer, said Iran is wholly contained and no threat to Israel and even if they were, Israel is fully capable to handle Iran themselves.

Ron Paul said in one of the debates he believes in the Golden Rule–do unto others what you would have them do unto you> He believes in going into war only when it is in our national interest and to do it with a declaration of war from Congress. This would promote preace and prosperity in the world in general and the US in particular. Ron Paul 2012!

  3. Reducing the debt is imperative, the problem is that democrats and republicians do not have the will to reduce the debt! You currently have 49.5% of people who are paying no federal income taxes but draining the coffers with government give aways! If you go to a flat tax based on income everyone would pay their "fair share". We also need to stop giving money to countries that hate us and take care of our country and our friends which include Israel! We also need to do term limits for all of congress and all earmarks period!

    −Aimee
    • yes, term limits, HA! do you think those corrupt politicians would ever agree to that. They come to D.C. common men and leave millionaires and thieves.

      −Phyllis in Texas
      • I agree with you and am a firm believer as American Citizens it is our responsibility to fix the system for our children and grandchildren! I am truly afraid that if we don't do something that our future generations will not have the America that we enjoy….truly sad!

        −Aimee
      • They just voted against that this past couple of weeks. LOL Of course they would. The best would be to repeal the 17th Amendment and return power to the states, where it was until the Progressive infiltrated the gov't. The states would then have to elect the Senators again. They would already have to be in some political office in order to qualify by this repealing. It would get rid of scum like Reid, Schumer, Gillibrand. It would also be a big help in reducing lobbying. Repealing the 17th is the way to go.

        −stillmoral
    • Aimee you were right on about getting them to pay their fair share and also to keep our money here to help Americans not those countries, like you said, who hate us. Setting term limits would be a big step in the right direction. Some of the politicians out there, figure they will always have their job, so "What do they have to lose" by the things they impose on the rest of us.

      −Margaret
    • Current politicians are only part of the problem. It's not so much that they don't have the will to balance the budget. It's that they don't need to. They don't need to because we the people are not motivating them to do so. Yes, we're asking them to balance the budget and so on, but we're, also, asking for special interests from the government. So, we the people are living a double-standard. It reminds me of the man that stood up and told his Congressman to keep the government out of his Medicare. We're all guilty of doing this except that guy that lives up in the mountains, but he's another story. We're telling them to leave us alone, but at the same time telling them to fix our problems. What do you think is going to happen? By having government be part of the solution, we're only fueling the fire for tyranny. Yes, I understand that it'll take good politicians to fix things in government, but the solution is not to get better government. The solution is to get less government, but some conservatives give in to the oxymoron of big government-conservatism.

American people need to redefine or, rather, reestablish what independence and conservatism is not just by yelling and screaming but by living it. The more independently we live away from the government; the less we have to live under corruption.

      −Ducky
  4. do you believe in the integrity of government or do you believe in yourself.

  5. Ron Paul is the only hope…is it any surprise? He's the sole candidate in both the 2008 and 2012 races who addressed the biggest crisis in this nation right now, and that's the national debt. Everyone else just wants to put band-aids over everything.

    −RevAnders
    • I would never support that ba$tard Ron Paul. One of the biggerst frauds to ever sit in Congress.

      −stillmoral
      • Such a well thought and educated response deserves an equally intelligent comeback…
"Your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries But seriously…

Based on statistics culled from the American Journal of Political Science and Common Space Score calculations from 1937 to 2002, Ron Paul has mathematically the most conservative record out of a roster of 3,320 Congress members. He has never voted to increase taxes
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget
He has never accepted a government paid junket
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch
He has never voted for federal government regulations on gun ownership
He refuses to go on the Congressional pension plan
His campaign is the ONLY one not in debt, not even by a dollar
He voted against the Patriot Act
He is against regulating the Internet.
        He is pro life
        He voted to impeach Clinton
He was 1 of 4 House members to endorse Reagan in his first run in '80, who in turn endorsed Ron Paul.
And he is the sole candidate to address the national debt with a solid plan to cut it back.

And for some reason this means "fraud" to you? Might I recommend a dictionary?

        −RevAnders
      • How about his serial violation of Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution. The old ba$tard sticks earmarks in bills and then votes no. He knows the bills will pass and he can bring home the pork. He is #4 on bringing home the bacon. Then he turns around and has the temerity to say, " I never voted for an earmark" That you jacksass is fraud in my book. Take that old ba$tard and stick him and his good buddy RINO Romney up your stupid butt

        −stillmoral
      • Did anyone ever say he didn't earmark anything? Let me check my list…nope. How about RP site…nope. As for Article 1 sec 8, how is this violating anything? Did you ever read sec 9? Sources or you're full of BS, which shows in every post by your insipid language and pathetic candor.

        −RevAnders
      • Why are you trying to twist things. He has called earmarks unconstitutional, which they are,yet he sticks them in and then votes no. He is the one who lies and says I never voted for an earmark. He is playing a game and you can still blindly follow this pile of offal because I realize paulbots can never fact the truth about this scam artist.

        −stillmoral
      • Sources or it didn't happen. Article 1 sec 9 puts them in a gray area. And it's true he has never voted for a bill that he felt was unconstitutional. Take a real argument that his hecklers go after, like if any of the bills actually were unconstitutional.

        −RevAnders
      • You are still avoiding the issue of his sticking the earmarks in so he can bring home the pork and then voting against them. Then he turns around and says he never voted for an earmark. That is out and out fraud and manipulation.
Paul made over $157 million in earmark requests for FY 2011, one of only four House Republicans to request any earmarks. Additionally, he made over $398 million in earmark requests for FY 2010, again one of the leading Republican House members. These earmark requests include:

        −stillmoral
      • •$8 million from federal taxpayers for Recreational Fishing Piers.
•$2.5 million from taxpayers for "new benches, trash receptacles, bike racks, decorative street lighting."
•$2.5 million from taxpayers to modify medians and sidewalks for an "Economically Disadvantaged" area.
•$2.5 million from federal taxpayers for a "Revelation Missionary Baptist Community Outreach Center."
•$38 million in multiple requests for literacy programs to "encourage parents to read aloud to their children."
•$18 million from federal taxpayers for a Commuter Rail Preliminary Engineering Phase (light rail).
•$4 million from federal taxpayers for the "Trails and Sidewalks Connectivity Initiative."
•$11 million from federal taxpayers for a "Community-Based Job Training Program."
•$2 million from federal taxpayers for a "Clean Energy" pilot project.
•$5 million from federal taxpayers in order to build a parking garage.
•$1.2 million for a "Low-income working families Day Care Program"
•$4.5 million from federal taxpayers for a new Youth Fair facility.

        −stillmoral
      • All of the above earmarks can be found on Paul's own congressional website. While Paul does not digitize the requests prior to FY 2011, they're still available as PDFs. Paul typically will make the earmark request, but then votes against or abstains from voting on final passage, so he can maintain his claim to have "never voted for an earmark", even the earmark requests he himself made. He defends the practice here.

        −stillmoral
      • all ear marks outside the Article I section 8 limits are USURPATION – Only Ron Paul and three other Republicans continue to ear mark – If they admit they were wrong and have repented then all would forgive the sinner but still not the sin. Ron Paul and Santroum are liars on the issue and they know it as they claim to be CONSTITUTIONALIST and hold strictly to it's articles – they in fact do not – here is James Madison again on the issue –

I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents. – Annals of Congress (1794-01-10) James Madison

        −stillmoral
      • What issue am I avoiding? Did I or anyone ever say he never earmarked anything? You are the only one who claimed it was actually something bad and tried to throw the Constitution at it, which makes it perfectly legal.

        −RevAnders
      • You are avoiding his hypocrisy.
Romney and Paul have whined about earmarks yet Romney spent 6 million of them on the Olympics and Paul spent 398 million of them in one year. Hypocritical.

        −stillmoral
      • There is a difference between pork barrels and earmarks. You still have yet to point out the hypocrisy or link any sources other than your own magic 8 ball.

        −RevAnders
      • Wow, your total ignorance is showing. No one should let you in a voting booth. Earmarks and pork barrel are the EXACT SAME THING. See what kinds of morons are Paul supporters. Shameful. Even when the House said they didn't want any earmarks/pork in bills, lowlife lying Paul stuck them in last year. He just can't help himself.

        −stillmoral
      • Stillmoral meet the internet. Internet, meet Stillmoral. You two can have a great working relationship together as long as you remember to research things before you post them. Allow me to point you to a friendly search engine like "Yahoo" where you can ask something like "What is difference between earmarks and pork barrels?" instead of sounding like an ignoramus.

        −RevAnders
      • You are one of the dumbest idiots I have ever come across in the blogs.
did you forget this guy wrote the Constitution for the most part –

I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents. – Annals of Congress (1794-01-10) James Madison
So, strike one – he wrote the Constitution and was a Founder/Framer and a Ratifier.

As Madison said he could find no authority in the Constitution to use money for items not approved in the AI S8. It has taken years to get you all to see the facts and truth of ear mark PORK issue –

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.
        Alexis de Tocqueville

Ron Paul is nicknamed Porkulus Paul because of all the earmarks/pork he brings home and has been for 25 lackluster years in Congress,

        −stillmoral
      • Spending constituents money on "objects of benevolence" is not the same as earmarking. It's actually not the same as pork barrels either, so fail for you. A1 S9 gives the provision for what we now know of as earmarking. Fail x2.

And I asked for a link for your grandiose claims, and you accomplish disappointment yet again.

        −RevAnders
      • I will make this my last reply to you because you are totally incapable of grasping the concept that earmarks and bringing home the pork are the same thing. Now I know why we have such criminal elected officials. It is because of thick headed fools like you who do not understand anything about the way our gov't was founded and who is usurping it's foundation. How can you not understand what Madison said? I have lost patience with your stupidity.

        −stillmoral
      • The difference between earmarks and pork barrels is in purpose and interpretation. Please, you have the internet, right? You're not some '419' Ghana refugee scam artist, correct? Do some research then.

How can you not understand that "objects of benevolence" is not the same as purposeful programs? I suppose you use neither a dictionary nor the internet very well.

  8. Ron Paul does not need to be President ;; he needs to be the chairman of the federal reserve bank;; eliminate it systematically;; the creature from Jekyll Island. Free market currency floats with the controlling influential factors.

    david peacock
    • He can't ever be the Chairman. It would have to take a good President such as Paul to appoint Paul as Chairman so it's a mad little circle. Besides the Chairman is a puppet for the banks. If he does win the Presidency, he'll be able to appoint whoever he wants. Plus, he'll have authority to audit the banks, correctly.

      −Ducky
  9. The article ignors one fact. Only Newt has proven he can balance the budget, and provide surplus, as he did as Speaker of the House in the 90s.

Paul would make a nice Grandfatherly figure, but not a quality president.

    −DaveT
    • No, he didn't ignore that fact; Joel via CNN, actually, denied it.

Same goes for Rick Santorum’s and Mitt Romney’s economic plans." – CNN

      −Ducky
      • And you have not investigated the impact Newt's plans would have on the economy. You are too stupid to do that because you drink the Ron Paul kool aid. 12. Have they posted how Obama's plan stacks up to the GOP candidates? The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget says their review of the GOP candidates is incomplete due to the lack of detail. This is to be expected since candidates are still in the early stagesHowever Obama's plan should be complete. I would like for them to post an evaluation of his plan so we can see the whole picture. I think this would be very advantagous for the voters.

  16. Ron Paul is an imbecile, and he is dangerous to this Nation and Israel, nough said!

    jericho777
    • Why is Ron Paul Dangerous?

Is it because he actually tells people what he wants to do beyond just the general idea?

Is it because he believes the Constitution is actual law and must be followed?

Is it because he agrees with the founding fathers on the principles of liberty, personal rights, and personal freedom?

Is he dangerous because he believes that government should be limited in it's power and that our government has currently overstepped it legal boundaries?

Is Ron Paul dangerous because he desires to protect the American people from the U.S. Government?

Is Ron Paul dangerous because he desires to cut taxes to give the people more money to spend so that businesses can grow?

Is Ron Paul dangerous because he desires to restore the gold standard to our economy, and place true value back into the U.S dollar?

Is he dangerous because he desires to give the people the freedom to defend themselves that the people once had?

Which one of these makes him dangerous? Or maybe he's dangerous to some because he doesn't preach free money for not working?

The scariest thing I have seen in my life has been how Obama openly violates every Americans basic civil rights. Then he lies about it or tries to explain it away. When called on it.

Jericho, this frightens me because every American is the loser in this situation. We all lose when our religious rights are violated. Eventually we all will be forced to do something by the government that is against the law. We Americans need to wake up and decide if we want freedom or communism! Because we are slowly headed towards communism…

  17. Perhaps the purpose of those in our government is to cause it to fall. Jericho777 Ron Paul appears as a imbecile, but actually is a very bright man. It is actually a shame that someone who has some good ideas does not have a good PR person. This day and age that's all it takes is someone who knows who to handle the media and has the funds to do so. It is to bad that all of the candidates could not get together as all of them each have some good ideas and would make a good cabinet.

    −BravoBilly
    • I believe Ron Paul has very wisely placed himself. If you look he is not winning the battles in the short run, yet he is beginning to come tot he forefront of the idea war. The idea war is what matter the most. One man in one term of office can't do much. But a man that influences others to fight for him and wins the idea war has many allies that can change things for good. Currently, he is seen as a crazy nut and the liberals pass him off as a crazy man. This is better than an all out attack against him.

With Andrew Napolitano as his Vice President, we can restore the honor and Constitutional integrety of America!

  21. I'm frankly sick of the media trying to tell us who to vote for and how bad the others are. Why is it that Ron Paul supporters seem to not notice that Paul has teamed up with Romney to blacken the eyes of Gingrich and Santorum. Paul knows he will not get the nomination and teams up with Romney who is not a conservative. Come to think of it, neither is Paul a conservative.

    −Mourning_Mom
    • Absolutely. Ron Paul is a vile liowlife. He sure can manipulate all the minds of his young supporters. But hell that is how we got Comrade Obama.

      −stillmoral
    • And your right. Mourning_Mom
Paul is looney toons and he has no substance. Oh he says allot, he'll do it this, he'll do it that, and he has yet to go into detail. He does have good ideas for the economy, but is clueless as Obama is about anything else. I'm not worried about him any ways, because just like the other four times he's run, people, intelligent people, seen him for what he is. All Talk and showmanship, a damned snake oil salesman!

      −Jeffrey Hardin
      • I know Paul won't get the nomination, Jeffrey. Levin points out that he must have other motives for "tag-teaming" with Romney against the other candidates from the beginning. It may be that he expects a prominent speaking opportunity at the nat'l convention, that he wants his son to be VP, or he or his son in the cabinet. One has to wonder when even the liberal media have caught on.

        −Mourning_Mom
  22. Stillmoral. Perhaps a name change is on order, i suggest Immoral. Perhaps go back to the only standard, the Word of God, and re-think not only your post but your views. • Perhaps you ought to stop judging me. I would never support a vile liar pile of trash like Ron Paul. You stop throwing the Bible at me. I am fully aware of what it says in the Bible. I happen to think a racist lying antiAmerican s.o.b. like Paul is not anywhere near righteousness.

  24. Only one candidate, Ron Paul, will reduce the debt is a false and untrue suppostion. All the Republican candidates can and will reduce the national debt, but only one will bring the prosperity the USA needs, and has the proven track record of doing so in Washington DC, and thats Newt Gingrich. No matter how badly you dislike him, he has the ideas and know how to return the USA to prosperity, which he helped do in the Reagan administration and led the way in the Clinton administration, by the writing of and implementation of 'The Contract With America', which gave Republicans majorities in both houses of Congress for the first time in over 40 years. Newt's womanizing days are over and he is very repentant of them, and as far as his cockiness is concerned, if you were as smart as he, you'd probaly also be cocky, it comes with the mentality territory, but look at the cockiness of Obama, which the Democrats could care less, for they want to believe he is their winner.

  25. Rick Santorum is a big government, Washington insider who will not change a blessed thing. He has spoken out against the Tea Party; he has admitted to voting against his principles, including votes for Planned Parenthood; he is playing into Obama's so-called war on religion, which will destroy him like it did Pat Robertson; and he is constantly whining when things don't go his way. 28. Amazing. Those who consider the Zionist state as God's Chosen ones, consider Him incapable of protecting the Children of Israel as he did in the past until they were taken captive for following other gods. When the Christian Coalition was formed several years ago, I thought it was great, but as I look back all the "social issues" we took away from God and expected the Government to solve have not turned out so well! Take abortion for instance. We wanted the Government to outlaw abortion – we got Roe vs. Wade. Now we subsidize it through taxes. While the politicians say we don't fund abortions, the money to Planned Parenthood is for breast exams, etc., the money is fungible, what they use for good, frees up money to use for evil, and to hire more lobbyists to get more money. Then there is marriage: one man one woman, God's plan. This was turned over to government for "safe-keeping" and we now have our children being recruited into the harmful life-style by the Government school curriculum. There is no God, ergo, no God-given rights. Evolution lie has robed our children of hope and peace. Ron Paul understands the BOTTOM line, both in economics and in the Founding principles. It would probably take an Act of God to waken the people, but I believe in miracles. Last comment: Ron Paul is our ONLY HOPE to free us from the UN and get our Sovereign nation back.
