WBBJ Local 7, Loma Linda, CA, reports,
According to the U.S. Marshal Service, Walter “Chick” McGill, 66, was arrested at the Loma Linda Seventh Day Adventist Church, Friday.
The arrest comes amid a court battle over the name of McGill’s Creation Seventh Day Adventist Church in Guys, Tennessee.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church took the Creation Seventh Day Adventist Church and accused the West Tennessee church of infringing on their trademark. A federal court judge ordered the Creation Seventh Day Adventist Church to remove the “Seventh Day Adventist” from it’s name, but McGill refused.
In April, Pastor McGill told 7 Eyewitness News, “We would really like to comply to the court orders. We respect the courts, we respect the law. But in this case the law is violating our consciences and we must put our consciences before the law.”
The video report (see the link) records both Pastor McGill’s wife and his assistant pastor stating that the church name had been given via a “vision” and “prophecy” from God, and thus the church members would not be following their conscience if they gave it up.
