Tim Stanley writing for the Telegraph suggests Piers Morgan’s recent tirade calling Gun Owners of America’s president Larry Pratt and “incredibly stupid person,”
The big question is, is Morgan doing damage to the gun control movement with his latest outburst? He’s certainly given conservatives a gift by allowing them to portray gun control as the issue of choice of foreign liberals. And, frankly, asking an interviewee “you’re an incredibly stupid idiot, aren’t you?” fosters the impression that liberals are engaging not in constructive debate but an assault on the character of their opponents.
Thus, we end up with the White House having to seriously consider a petition to deport a TV host, trivialising the whole affair. It’s also a little presumptuous. Who’s to say that the British want Piers Morgan back…?
Fellow Brit, BBC personality Jeremy Clarkson was more blunt, tweeting,
Americans. It took us 40 years to get rid of Piers Morgan. Pleasse don’t send him back.
And,
Americans. Was the second amendment not introduced to protect you from the tyranny of the British? Piers Morgan in other words.
