Behind Obama’s rising poll numbers

by Joel McDurmon on Dec 22, 2011

While some liberal media outlets will spin the recent jump in Obama’s approval ratings as something substantial, the President’s own deputy campaign manager admits they’re fickle and temporary. CNN reports,

“These numbers will go up and down. But the debates over the last few months have clearly had an impact,” said Stephanie Cutter, Obama 2012 deputy campaign manager. “On one side they’ve seen a president fighting to reclaim the security of the middle class and on the other side a group of people sort of paying lip service to the middle class, then actively working against them. That doesn’t go unnoticed and the data is beginning to show that.

The rise is certainly based on such public perception—certainly aided by a liberal media—about Republicans allegedly failing to extend tax cuts to the middle class while Obama is promising them billions in new government stimulated jobs. There’s no surprise there. The real surprise is that promises of billions converted into only a tiny percent jump.

But truth be told, Democrats are more responsible for the failure in tax cuts than Republicans, who are holding out for a longer-term for the cuts. After all, if both sides agree tax cuts for the middle class are good, then why do Dems want to extend them only for a paltry two months instead of at least a year? Hmm.

There’s more to it yet:

Republicans are quick to point out that the president is starting from historic lows for an incumbent.

“These numbers are better than they were in November but it’s nothing to be jumping up and down about. Instead of being really, really bad, it’s just really bad for the president,” said Republican pollster Ed Goeas.

The tax-cut sideshow is just that, “Obama’s re-election hopes are tied to the overall health of the economy.”

  1. Obama is fighting to save the "security" of his base—–the 51% of the populace who do not work, do not pay taxes and never have and never will. The Left despises the middle class —–

  3. Charles 17121 I certainly hope your correct, the main stream media is so invested in Obama they won't tell the truth, his birthcertificate issues are a smoke screen. He is not a naturalized citizen and that is the truth regardless if he was born here or not, does not qualify for the highest office in this land. Happy New Years if the truth comes out sooner rather than later.

Obama is doing everything he can to CRUSH the Middle Class! How would anyone know? Because he actions speak louder than his words, and he is a dedicated Marxist.

  5. Obama is not looking after the middle class. He has done everything possible to destroy the middle class! He has also betrayed our troops by supporting the 'Arab Spring' which will usher Sharia Law throughout Africa and Middle East. He and his attorney general Holder refuse to enforce the laws of this nation, and they should both be impeached for that alone! He has stopped funding the building of the border fence and cut the number of National Guard policing the border by 50%. This is the worst President in our history and he is such a narcissist that he thinks he is in the top Four! Talk about out of touch with REALITY!

  6. As usual, the big question is, “Who is participating in these surveys?”
